Women and Men in Leadership

CivicsRUs Women and Men in Leadership program seeks to advance women’s and men’s professional, personal, and political capacity to tackle society’s biggest challenges together and contribute to a thriving democracy. The program supports the leadership development of women and men across the Bay Area, raises up a multitude of women’s and men’s experiences, establishes a pipeline for professional advancement, and creates a cross-sector network of women and men who support each other’s career growth. Women and Men in Leadership engages mid-career women and men of diverse backgrounds from the private, nonprofit, and government sectors for intensive leadership development seminars and post-fellowship networking. The program is created for people interested in and directly affected by the array of personal and professional issues facing woman-identifying and men-identifying professionals in the Bay Area.

What You’ll Experience

The program engages cohorts of mid-career women and men of diverse backgrounds from the private, nonprofit, and government sectors for intensive, virtual leadership development seminars and post-fellowship networking.

• Intentional experiential learning, from the comfort of your chosen location, using CivicsRUs’s virtual learning model.
• Four 5-hour sessions = 25 hours of virtual training.
• Four 1-hour virtual drop-in office hours = 4 hours of (open entry) consultation.
• One 2-hour, in-person celebration (when public health guidelines permit).
• Appropriate and tailored to diverse professionals in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

Curriculum focus includes:

• Leadership development seminars.
• Strategic relationship building.
• Negotiating at work.
• Peer coaching.
• Developing a professional narrative to articulate accomplishments and vision.
• Making value visible in the workplace.
• Post-fellowship networking with diverse women from the private, government, and nonprofit sectors.
• Engagement with the broader CivicsRUs network of leaders working in every sector.

Outcomes

• Increased skills and confidence.
• Enhanced leadership abilities and a suite of leadership tools.

Who Should Apply

Mid-career women and men working in the private, nonprofit, and government sectors. We want women and men who are interested in their professional development and in connecting and supporting other women and men in realizing their leadership goals, as well as in working together to increase capacity and strengthen democracy. CivicsRUs warmly welcomes applicants from across the spectrum of woman-identifying and men-identifying gender expressions.

Cost

Tuition is $3,000. Need-based scholarships are available to professionals working in the nonprofit and public sectors. Submit your request for assistance in the application form.
